The following photos illustrate the hope that comes through practical education and tangible love, given by those who are willing to serve in the poor communities. The four photo topics are:

Elementary Schools:
Surrounded by many happy students at Noah's Ark are Ivelta Angui (center), and three faculty members: Pierre, Symphorien, and Joel.

Teachers are local citizens, and from the areas in which they work. The children in this class learn reading, writing, and math.

. Sewing School
Many women in the poor areas in which we work have had little or no formal education, and have little chance to earn a living. Giving them an oppor-
tunity to learn a vocational skill is a satisfying part of our efforts.

Limited facilities make it impossible to offer this training to the many more young women who want to attend the school.

Sports Teams
Partners Around The World uses sports to encourage the attributes of teamwork, self-esteem, sharing, cooperation, friendly competition - all of which are often lacking in the streets of slums.

Soccer is the major sport, and we currently have about 100 boys involved in our own teams. Our teams compete at the intercity level and are registered at the national level. These boys are at serious risk of becoming involved in dangerous street life, and we're doing all we can to keep them involved in worthwhile activities.

Poverty Relief
At the time this photo was taken, this young mother of four was stuggling to survive in the shantytown where Noah's Ark is located. With education and aid from Partners Around The World, her children can have a better future.

We use some of our limited funds to provide food and other necessities to those in the most need.

Our founder, Barbara Lane, and members of her team attend the funeral of a 9-year-old AIDS victim, whom Barbara cared for over the course of two years. When the ill girl was rejected by the public schools, Barbara provided a tutor. She also purchased medicine and took the girl to see specialists.

Watching the little girl suffer was one of the saddest times that Barbara has experienced during her many years in Ivory Coast.
